In July 2015, something truly special was born. Zambezi Magic, a homegrown channel dedicated to celebrating Southern African stories, voices, and cultures. A decade later, we’re still doing just that: bigger, bolder, and prouder than ever.
From the very beginning, Zambezi Magic stood for authenticity. Our first local productions paved the way for relatable characters and real stories told the Southern African way. Whether it was the family drama of Ubuntu or the early spark of Zuba, we knew our stories mattered.
Then came our first telenovela, Zuba, and nothing was the same again. The show gripped audiences across the region and became a cultural phenomenon. It wasn’t just a hit. It was the beginning of a new standard in local storytelling.
Soon, the family grew. Mpali, Uncle Limbani, Landlady Meets Landlord, Spoiler — these titles didn’t just entertain; they created cultural icons. Characters like Nguzu and Shupiwe, or the ever-dramatic Landlady, became part of dinner-time conversations across Zambia and beyond.
As the years rolled on, our slate expanded. From powerful reality shows like Pastor Wants A Wife and Love Back Zambia, to hilarious comedies like Shi Mumbi and Kachesha, Zambezi Magic became the home of drama, laughter, romance, and redemption.
And then, there was you: our audience. Your reactions, memes, debates, and loyal viewership made every moment unforgettable. Social media came alive with your love for the shows and characters. You didn’t just watch the stories. You lived them!
Our longest-running shows, Mpali and Zuba, became more than entertainment. They became part of life. Eight seasons strong, with hundreds of episodes under their belts, they’re a testament to consistency, growth, and the unmatched loyalty of our viewers.
We also watched our actors grow. From their first scenes to major roles across the continent, Zambezi Magic has remained a proud platform for nurturing Zambian talent. Actors who started on our screens are now celebrated names throughout the SADC region.
From Zambia to Zimbabwe, Malawi to Botswana, Zambezi Magic now touches homes across the region. We’ve shared laughter, tears, joy, and triumph. One channel. One region. Countless stories.
Now, as we celebrate 10 years of Zambezi Magic, we say thank you for growing with us. For every moment you tuned in, every character you loved (or loved to hate), and every story that made you feel seen. This celebration is yours.
Here’s to 10 years of storytelling.
Here’s to the next 10.
